George W. Coburn, Eastern Trainer, Dies of Stroke AQUEDUCT, L. I., N. Y., June 25.— News of the death this morning of George W. Coburn, well-known trainer, was a shock to horsemen in this area. Coburn aged 57, had attended the races at Aqueduct on opening day and appeared to be in good health. On Sunday he suffered a stroke and was rushed to Mary Immaculate Hospital in Jamaica where he died at 6:30 this morning. I Coburn was trainer of a publicly-yawned stable. Among the owners represented were Mrs. G. W. Coburn, J. M. Seider and H. P. Marcus. He was a graduate of the jockey ranks before he took up training. Coburn is survived by his widow and four daughters. The deceased will be waked at Fair-childs funeral parlors, 220-05 Hillside Ave., Hollis. Services will be Thursday at Church of the Presentation, on Parsons Blvd. at 89th Ave. AQUEDUCT, L. I., N. Y., June 25.— Trainer George W. Coburn, who died suddenly this morning, was one of the original members of the Horsemens Mutual. All members of that organization are requested to send their 0.00 assessment to I. Marschner, Horsemens Mutual, Whitman Hotel, Jamaica, L. I., N. Y. A check has already been given to Mrs. Coburn by the Horsemens Mutual. Coburn was the fourth member of the Horsemens Mutual to pass on since the association was organized last December, his death being preceded by those of George Arvin, O. L. Hopper and M. A. Buxton.
