AMANECER saved ground while in hand to the last three-eighths, was sent to the inside for the stretch run and, after taking command, drew clear without need of urging. SQUIDGE, reserved to the upper turn, responded readily to punishment and closed gamely, but could not reach the top one. ON WINGS, never far back, went to the front near the stretch, but faltered during the drive. MAGNETIC STAR began fast, made the pace for five-eighths mile, then weakened. BIG HERALDER raced prominently, but in the middle of the track to the stretch and failed to rally when set down in the drive. I0NA U was never dangerous. BILLY BUMPS was far back after the break. SHORT REIGN gradually improved position to the stretch, was sent out slightly for the drive and, responding to punishment, wore down the leaders and was up in the last sixteenth. MEYERSDALE began fast, raced forwardly placed to the stretch and reached the lead during the drive, but could not withstand the top one, although much the best of the others. SOMA LAD could not better his position when set down in the drive and faltered badly during the last eighth. PRISSY BOY made the pace for a half mile, then gave way. KEEPU MOVING was outrun. BRASSY LIE saved ground throughout, but could not reach serious contention. WESTERN FRONT was* never dangerous. MISS MENIFEE had early speed, but failed to stay. BUMTYBUMP raced wide. BUBBLE GUM, a sharp factor after the start, raced nearest NEWSWORTHY to the stretch, went to the front during the drive and drew clear when ridden out. PUSSY WILLOW raced evenly to the stretch and closed fast under brisk handling, but could not get to the winner. NEWSWORTHY was hustled into command early, made the pace until inside the stretch, but faltered when challenged by BUBBLE GUM. JAPHAP lacked early foot and passed tired horses during the last quarter mile. DOLLYS IMAGE could not keep up. HENNY PENNY began fast, raced forwardly placed to the stretch, then gave way. BRIGHT STEEL went wide entering the stretch. HALS LINDA, fractious at the post, began alertly, but steadily lost ground after the start. FANCY FLYER, in hand to the upper turn, moved up fast on the inside at the stretch turn and, after reaching the lead, atempted to savage SUFFKI, but failed to withstand the latter, although probably best.
