Two Allowance Races On Suffolk Park Program Fighting Back and Scholarship Top Fields in Respective Events SUFFOLK DOWNS, East Boston, Mass., June 25. — A pair of allowance tests, one for three-year-olds and the other for older horses, are offered as the chief attractions on tomorrows eight-race card at this seaside oval. Each event will be contested at six furlongs and the sophomore number has drawn 11 potential participants while eight four-year-olds and upward will meet in the other event. The sophomore test has been named the Newton Centre and offers Murlogg Farms Fighting Back another chance to establish himself as a winner this season. The son of Fighting Fox — Stepianna was held in high esteem by his connections and earned a starting berth in the recent Kentucky Derby. Following the Louisville engagement, the colt was shipped here and in his two local appearances has been the victim of poor racing lucky. Getting in tomorrows dash with 106#pounds, including a five-pound apprentice allowance, may be enough to chase the jinx and find Fighting Back returned a winner. Slated to meet the Murlogg colt are Edward T., Miss Maro, Black Sid, Sonny Stiefel, Jeep Gypsy, Fern Gold, College Queen, Questagain, War Token and Exemplar. An abundance of early speed is represented in that group and the prospects of a thrilling stretch duel appears very likely. Sonny Stiefel recently was shipped here from New York and his debut was very convincing. In a new barn, the Sir Lancelot colt appears in a spot to earn back some of his purchase price. Fern Gold, College Queen, Questagain, War Token and Exemplar have airbeen successful over the local oval to endorse their chances in the Newton Centre. In the older event, which precedes the Newton Centre, Scholarship, Gunning Island, Assassinator, Galedo, Brownskin, Moose Pone, Speedy Baby and Rodeo are expected to make it an interesting event. Scholarship is top-weighted at 122 pounds and should be the one to beat off his excellent record at Suffolk Downs. The nine-year-old son of Rhodes Scholar has compiled a record of four triumphs and two bang-up seconds in his last six starts. Gunning Island and Speedy Baby have double victories registered locally and will be very troublesome.
