Ak-Sar-Ben Raises All Purses for Rest of Meet AK-SAR-BEN, Omaha, Nebr., June 25. — Horsemen participating in the current meet at Ak-Sar-Ben were pleasantly surprised today by an announcement from James P. Lee, chairman of the racing committee for the board of governors, that the value of the purse in every race on the remaining schedule, except handicaps, would be increased by 00, effective with to- ! morrows program. "We had previously raised the handi- caps to ,000 from the advertised value of ,500, and have been adding to purses of many other races the past three weeks," said Mr. Lee. "However, business continues to be good at ! Ak-Sar-Ben and, in keeping with long established policy, we desire to share our good fortune with all of the horsemen finishing out the meet with us." General manager J. J. Isaacson and director of racing R. A. "Dick" Leigh are revising the program for the remaining eight days to provide for the increases, which will bring the minimum purse to ,200 from the advertised value of ,000, and will increase the total purse distribution this year to more than 50,000.
