, ] | UNITED PRESS 1 NEWS I BRIEFS HST: Peace Must Be Real TULLAHOMA, Tenn., June 25.— President Truman declared today that any settlement in Korea "must be a real settlement which fully ends the aggression and restores peace and security to the area." The door is open for negotiations that will get that result, the President said in obvious reply to Saturdays cease-fire proposal by the Soviet UN delegate, Jacob A. Malik. Recaptures Key Height TOKYO, Japan, June 25.— The United Nations marked the first anniversary of the Korean war today with the recapture of a key height and the destruction of their 13th Communist plane in nine days. Hand-to-hand fighting raged in several sectors of the 100-mile ground front. There was no sign of any slackening of the battle despite Russias proposal for a Korean cease-fire. Says New Phase of War WASHINGTON, D. C, June 25.— Maj. Gen. Emmett "Rosie" ODonnell, Jr., Air Force strategic bombing expert, said today that the war in Koreo has entered a new phase marked by "quite enlarged air action on the Chinese Communist side of the border." Britain Studying Proposal LONDON, England, June 25. — Foreign Secretary Herbert Morrison told Commons today that the government was studying means of following up Russias proposal for a cease fire in Korea. Proposes Limited Concession WASHINGTON, D. C, June 25.— Adm. Ernest J. Entezam, who is Irans ambassador to the United States, planned to see Malik tomorrow when the general assembly meets in special session to hear President Galo Plaza Lasso of Ecuador.
