DANDY FOOT assumed command at once, drew clear and was held together and reserved until the stretch, responded willingly and withstood the challenge of SEVEN PILLARS. The latter moved around horses before a half mile, came wide into the stretch to engage the leader, but was outgamed. ROCK VINCENT closed stoutly from a slow beginning. ASH TRAY, forwardly placed, was unable to menace. ALORAN dropped off the pace early, was sent through along the inside in the final quarter mile, but lacked a convincing rally. GREAT NECK weakened. MY DREAM MARIE slipped through along the inside to take command leaving the backstretch, increased her advantage and withstood a sustained drive from FRIENDLY SANDS. The latter gained a forward position early, remained in hand to the final turn and was pressing at the end. KING TAOS saved ground to enter contention and faltered. MOON NIGHT flattened out after a half mile. DOCTOR L. E. moved between horses to improve position, went wide on the final turn and was unable to threaten. DOROTHY G. showed speed for a quarter mile and drifted cut. ANNIES CHOICE retired steadily after a half mile. The others were outrun. MARINE GROWTH worked his way up between horses to gain a forward position, moved outside in the late stages and was along to catch HELENTAR at the end. The latter was a contender from the outset, gained command inside the final furlong and just missed. ACE VAR showed good speed, weakening slightly at the end. MIGHTY IKE closed stoutly on the extreme outside. NAGGING WIFE showed a good effort. 0W0 saved ground to no avil. TAFTLA broke alertly, held sway until the stretch and faltered. DONALDS GAL was unable to keep up. GAILSIG was taken up near the far turn and failed to recover lost ground. The others showed nothing. Scratched— 86008 Butchie S., 113; 86451 Cold Jack, 118. LANDOM broke alertly, was placed under steadying restraint while kept in striking distance of the pace, moved readily on the final turn, was guided outside of the leaders and into command near the final sixteenth and drew clear. WINSTAY opened a commanding lead at once, shook off early challenges in the stretch, but was not good enough. LONE PILOT, in closest attendance of the pace, failed to respond when set down. CHARING ROCK saved ground to no avail SIRENS RING went evenly. GRASS SKIRT showed nothing. DAUNTEDID broke slowly and was sent up on the outside before three furlongs, failed to reach the leader and flattened out. FREE CAMP trailed throughout.
