Seven in Four and Half Furlongs Ascot Event Dainger Ring, With Darlington Up, May Score Repeat Victory ASCOT PARK, Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio, May 16. — Racing here at Ascot Park swings into its final three weeks on Monday with the management and horsemen alike hoping that somewhere along the line the weather man will give them a break. Thus far through the first half of the session the elements have been abnormal. Even so the meeting has shown a slight increase over a like period last season, but it could skyrocket with some good overhead conditions. The feature on Monday will be at the four and a half furlongs distance and seven horses have been entered to match strides. The race is for horses running for a price tag of either ,750 or ,500 depending on their weight to be carried. Those scheduled to start are Ivy Boy, Dainger Ring, Irrawaddy, Rosdreenagh, One Finger, Sydney H. and Welcome. Dainger Ring, from the barn of C. D. Dimaio, is scheduled to be ridden by Gardner Darlington. Last time those two went postward as a team it resulted in a onesided victory for the Dainger Lewis colt. In that race he broke second, sprinted clear soon thereafter winding up with five lengths on the credit side at the end of the dash. His only setback at the meeting was suffered when Dr. Pentick defeated the colt by a length on April 27. Previously he had won his first race over the track this spring by two and a half lengths. Main opposition to Dainger Ring will probably seem from Ivy Boy who can usually be counted on for an honest effort. Last time the Arnold colorbearer ran he wound up second to Apennine at six and one-half furlongs after tiring through the late stretch. Ivy Boy has won two races here this spring and has plenty of early speed which is just what the doctor ordered for these sprints here at Ascot. Irrawaddy has had several good races over the local strip and is always a factor. Rosdreenagh did not impress in his last outing. One Fingers rider lost an iron leaving the gate here the other day and had to be pulled up. Sydney H. is dangerous on occasion and Welcome would have to improve over his last race.
