BAKERSFIELD raced within easy striking distance, wore down ELIAS G. on the turn and gradually drew out through the stretch. ELIAS G. was lightly steadied setting the pace, could not resist the winner, but held on well. SAFETY improved position between horses and finished well. LAST ROUND saved ground to make up distance in the stretch. PIPING ARMS was slightly crowded by the top pair at the head of the stretch and faltered. EUCLID was outdistanced early. BAYOU BOY quit. SCOTCH BIM was sluggish early, made a good run around horses on the final turn, but was tiring at the end. ROYAL FREEDOM was formidably placed and tired. SPRING MORN was not a serious factor.
