Bay State Kindergarten Next at Suffolk Downs Nirgal Lad, Swift Steve, Cold Jack, Cant Please Possibilities SUFFOLK DOWNS, East Boston, Mass., May 16. — Juveniles move into the limelight this coming week at Suffolk Downs with the sixth running of the 0,000 added Bay State Kindergarten Stakes scheduled to take place next Saturday afternoon. The classiest group of "babies" the East Boston oval has stabled in many years is available. There have been 36 nominations representing 24 interests for this Kindergarten test which will find the local freshmen going five furlongs for the first time. Among the possible starters there are no less than nine who have already been winners over the track. Off recent races, the standouts appear to be T. A. Sears Nirgal Lad, V. Posner and M. Colvins Swift Steve, Murlogg Farms Cant Please, and the Irving Gushen and Mrs. I. Gushen entry of Arthur S. and Cold Jack. Nirgal Lad a week ago Saturday won a nose decision from Arthur S. in the third meeting between the pair. Each had won a race previously. This third match between them took a photo to separate them in the fast time of :53y5 for the four and one-half furlongs, which was only one-fifth of a second off the track record. In that same race, Cant Please was only beaten a little more than a length, while the highly regarded Swift Steve ran into early difficulty and did not turn in a true effort. And theres Cold Jack, too. His easy four-length romp Tuesday stamps him as a threat. The race, however, will involve more than these four. Owo, Halara, Switch On, Mighty Ike, and Helentar have all won over the track and must be respected. With the added distance of the dash, there is a possibility that some of the other contenders who have not shown too much at four and four and one-half furlongs may run much more impressively next Saturday. The complete list of nominations follow: Arthur S.
