BIRMOODA was under intermittent pressure racing with the pace, wrested command in the final furlong and was doing his best to hold EL PICADORE clear. The latter saved ground into the stretch, then came through an opening between horses and closed fast. JIMMINY JOY C. had to be steadied, lacking room to improve position at the head of the stretch, then could not get up in the final run. FIDDLERS GIRL opened a clear lead on the turn, saved all possible ground, but weakened. CARLTON MISS finished well. DIRECTOR BELLE began sluggishly. Scratched— 85767 T-Formation, 115. ROCK SPAN, reserved and saving ground while outrun, rallied swiftly under brisk handling in the stretch and finished determinedly to narrowly best WARMED OVER. The latter, steadied while between horses on the turn, came outside the leaders for the final drive and finished gamely to just miss. GALA MORN raced close to the pace, assumed command when called upon, but could not resist the late challengers. SEA ADMIRAL was well placed behind the leaders, but bore out slightly on the stretch turn and lacked a rally. LIBERTY LUCK had a rough trip to the stretch, then swung to the middle of the track and closed belatedly. M1LLDALE was carried wide into the stretch. FLYING POLLY quit. RED FLUSH was outrun. JDUC DE FER immediately settled into a clear lead and was taken under a rating hold, willingly repulsed challenges when punished entering the stretch and opened a wide margin to win with authority. OCLI ROCK raced in closest pursuit of the winner, loomed menacingly from the outside when roused on the final turn, but was not a match for the winner in the drive home. WOLF GAL could not reach the leaders early, but finished well. PINELET saved ground to momentarily appear dangerous entering the stretch, then suddenly weakened. • IRON HEEL gave an even effort. LANDLOCKED was reserved within easy striking distance, steadily raced into command when ready for the drive and held SCIMITAR clear under urging. The latter raced into closer contention on the inside, swung out slightly for room entering the stretch and finished determinedly. DANDOLO held a short advantage over HARASS setting the pace, shook free of that one on the final turn and held on fairly well. ABBEZAC rallied in company with SCIMITAR, but could not stay with the latter in the drive. QUEENS MOON had no excuse. HARASS was raced into defeat by DANDOLO. Overweight— Suky Susie, 1 pound. ATALANTA was lightly hustled to remain within striking distance, swung wide to challenge the leaders and closed with a late burst of speed to outfinish BOBS BETTY. The latter was well placed behind the top pair, had to be steadied lugging in and, running up behind BLUE RHYMER entering the last furlong, then came around that one, reached the front in the final yards and finished gamely. LANDMARK alertly raced with BLUE RHYMER, opened a commanding lead when that one faltered in the stretch, but gave way suddenly near the end. OCCUPANCY came to the outside for clear racing and finished fast. LA C0RRED0RA saved ground to loom a threat entering the stretch, but hung. BLUE RHYMER vied for the pace into the stretch and quit. GOLDEN GLOVES, in hand and close to the pace, was sent forwardly to press JOEY BOY when JAMPOL weakened, dueled with JOEY BOY racing on the outside and, under a prolonged drive, gained the nod. JOEY BOY saved ground racing into command at the first turn, was well rated, continued evenly while appearing a few times to be headed by GOLDEN GLOVES and finished resolutely to just miss. COUNT TURF, far back lacking early speed, raced on the outside, steadily improving position and finished willingly. ELIXIR could not reach the first flight under steady pressure, but held on evenly. HIGH SCUD, fortunately found room on the rail, racing into contention, came out slightly entering the stretch and hung. SCOBEYVILLE raced between horses and finished well. YILDIZ was outrun. GROVER B. could not keep up early. BRYAN G. was not able to stay with the leaders going to the first turn. JAMPOL and INDIAN LAND quit.
