The Garden State to Have First Running on October 37 GARDEN STATE PARK, Camden, N. J., May 16. — Saturday, October 31. has been set as the date for the initial runninK of The Garden State, richest horse race in the world, it was announced today by Walter H. Donovan, executive vice-president of the Garden State Racing Association. The Garden State is the first 00.-000 added race ever scheduled for two-year-old thoroughbreds, and the initial payment of 5 last December for nominees and the 00 paid by owners to keep 539 eligibles on March 16 already has built up the pot to more than 84,000. With another 50 feet due on July 15, 00 to pass the entry box and an additional ,000 to start, Donovan anticipates that the first running of this mile and one-sixteenth test for two-year-olds will gross a minimum of 25,000. The race will mark the first 00,000 added feature in the history of New Jersey thoroughbred racing and will be the feature attraction at the fall meeting at Garden State Park.
