THIRD ACE went into the air at the break, improved his position steadily from the outside, then lugged in and crowded DADA during the stretch run, for which he was disqualified and placed second. DADA was always formidable and was holding on well until bothered. TENURE was a factor throughout, but lacked a rally. OUR TOPS closed well after being slow to respond. LANDSEAIR was steadied along the inside in the vicinity of the half-mile pole and weakened gradually. TUSCANY was crowded soon after the start and failed to menace the winner. WHIFFENPOOF was unable to reach contention, as was FIRST REFUSAL. HYPHASIS flattened out badly. BRAZEN BRAT was sluggish early. JESS LINTHICUM quit. WAR PHAR was through early.
