Phoenicia Drops Dead PIMLICO, Baltimore, Md.. May 16.— Phoenicia, a five-year-old mare by The Phoenix — Sherwood Lass and owned by the Barclay Stable, dropped dead this morning as she was being prepared for a gallop. Johnny Covalli, who was to have exercised her, said he felt something was wrong with the filly and returned her to the barn, where she fell over. The horse was trained by R. B. Archer.
