Suffolk Allowance Sprint Today to Engage Eight Royal Marvel and Little Step Vie for Role of Post Favorite SUFFOLK DOWNS, East Boston„Mass., May 26. — An allowance sprint at six furlongs for four-year-olds and upward gets top billing on the mid-week card offered at Suffolk Downs tomorrow. Under the conditions of the ,000 dash, W. L. F. Stables Royal Duke gets the top impost of 119 pounds, two more than that to be carried by W. L. Huntleys Color Guard. It is very doubtful, however, if either of the high-weights will be the choice of the public in the race. Eddie Siravos Royal Marvel, who has had a pair of races over the local oval after a long absence, and Little Step, owned jointly by Putriment, Caval and Chmura, will attract the bulk of support from local patrons. Jay-Bob Stables Wild Fox, Phil Schwartz Charleston, Emerald Hill Stables Blue Dare and Annalora and Tereses Nola Hash round out the line-up for the feature. Little Step attracted attention among the local sprint ranks with his impressive score in a similar event which included Henry Kimballs Algasir who was making his seasonal bow. The five-year-old son of Fighting Step has always been regarded as a potential handicap performer but in previous seasons he has been hampered by unsoundness. Just when it appeared Little Step had reached his pinnacle, he came up with a bad race in the recent running of the Governors Handicap. Tomorrow is a good spot for him to atone for that showing. Royal Marvel, headed for national prominence at this time last year, was felled by misfortune and after a trip to New York I for a stakes engagement which he was unable to fulfill, the sleek looking son of Royal Nap was placed in temporary re-I tirement. Last year before going wrong, Royal Marvel proved the top sophomore racing in Massachusetts and went on to Narragansett Park to finish second to Jam-pol after a bitter duel throughout the nine-furlong Providence Stakes. That was his last start until recently when he appeared in an overnight allowance dash. Although he failed to win either of his local starts thus far this year, Royal Marvel did display his usual early speed and appeared in need of the races. - Charleston has always raced well at Suffolk Downs when fresh and the son of Chance Sun cannot be overlooked in his seasonal bow. He has been three-quarters in 1:12 during the morning hours and that suggests he is ready. Wild Fox and Blue Dare are making their seasonal starts over the local oval and appear to be in a tough spot. Color Guard and Nola Hash are always dangerous in a field of this caliber.
