Ascot Victory Plate Entries Close Tomorrow at 6 P. M. ASCOT PARK, Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio, May 26.— One of the highlights of the current 44-day meeting will be the twelfth running of the ,000 Ascot Victory Plate at a mile and one-half which is up for decision on Saturday. This race in the past has served as an excellent stepping stone to the rich Gold Cup which is to be decided on closing day June 6. This seasons Cup at two miles will be worth 3,000. In the past two horses, My Boy Tom in 1948 and License in 1949, have gone on to win the Cup after tallies in the Victory Plate. Trouble Bent and Tom Wade Jr., two fine animals who went on to win the Gold Cup, were runners-up in the Victory Plate in the earlier days of the event This years Plate will close on Thursday May 26 at 6 p. m. EDT and the weights will be announced the following morning. Declarations must be made at the usual time of closing entries on Friday morning.
