Illinois Notes FAIRMOUNT PARK, Collinsville, 111., May 26. James C. Ellis, owner and operator of the Dade Park race course at Henderson, Ky., was a visitor for the running of Saturday nights card. Ellis has a stable racing here under the handling of trainer O. Johnson. Haltermen wasted no time in getting into stride by claiming horses here at Fairmount Park. Bill Terry, Jr., took Hi Ante from J. W. Norwine opening night; E. G. Mahoney â–ºtook Kissable from Mr. and Mrs. G. B. Hol-man, while E. O Daniel got Miss Lyric from E. Meloncon. Assistant starter "Preacher" Harrell, departed for Denver Saturday night where he will start schooling horses at the forthcoming Centennial meeting. Harrell is a member of the McMillian starting crew. Owner-trainer S. Segretto checked In from Detroit, Mich., with one horse, Booral, over the week-end. Trainer Herb Perry added the horse Donnas Fox to his stable. The mare had been turned out at a Marion, 111., farm. One of the first sales registered so far this meeting took place when F. Ritz purchased Skyolater from Angelo Cilio at private terms. Trainer J. Starr wiy train for the new owner. Joe Gunter, well known sportsman and ex-wrestler from New Orleans, stopped over for a few nights of the sport here at Fair-mount. Gunter has many friends among the officials. Angelo Cilio announced that he had sold the seven-year-old gelding, Roaming Feet, to Joseph Kohout, at private terms. Ralph Bonn will handle the training chores.
