No Comment by Hollywood Officials on Robinson Blast HOLLYWOOD PARK, Inglewood, Calif., May 26. — Hollywood Park officials today said "no comment" on published criticism of C. Ray Robinson and the HBPA on certain stake increases announced for Hollywood Park, the most notable being the elevation of the Westerner and Sunset from 0,000 to 00,000 added. However, it was learned that Hollywood Park had submitted the plan to raise these purses to the racing board at a recent meeting at which board chairman Dwight W. Murphy was not present. At that session, the two members present, Jack H. Sattler and Fred W. Pabst, told Hollywood Park executives that no board approval is necessary to raise purses. Al Wesson, director of public relations for Hollywood Park, did say that increases had been made in stakes in the past, and that there was no departure from long established custom in making the increases. "The Hollywood Park position and reasons were made clear in our announcement of yesterday," said Wesson* "and we cannot add anything further to it except a repetition."
