May 26. — Go Go Go, a consistent son of Eternal War owned by "Dick" Gottsman, scored a stunning upset in the Boston Club Purse, a six-furlong dash which served as the feature at Suffolk Downs today. The three-year-old gelding assumed command leaving the barrier and led his five rivals from wrie to wire, registering a length be- fore the odds-on Nutmeg Lad from the barn of T. W. Reardon. It was another two and a half lengths back to Peznola and Lentinis My Preference. What started out to be an ideal day, clouded up after the second race and turned very cold. By the time the horses reached the gate in the feature, rain began falling. To add to the discomfort of the majority of the 10,023 crowd, Nancy Clare, B. A. Darios highly regarded Bull Dandy filly, failed at prohibitive odds-on in the race preceding the feature. After setting the pace until the final sixteenth of a mile of the six panels, Nancy Clare succumbed to the late rush of Solman Stables Stevie Boy, with Tony DeSpirito in the irons. Go Go Go was ably handled in the fea- ture by the veteran Ralph Borgemenke, who had won the opener astride Melpet Stables Well Well, but had an assist from poor racing luck which befell Nutmeg Lad. The latter failed to break as alertly as usual and before the Robert Morris colt had gone a furlong, jockey Hubert Trent was forced to take back to prevent his charge from running up on the heels of Montenegrin and My Preference. It was on the far turn that Trent finally was able to ease the colt to the outside and he responded readily to range up on the outside to loom as a threat to Go Go Go. Through the final sixteenth of a mile Trent had his hands full to prevent the colt from ducking to the inside and consequently was unable to reach the leader. Overlooked in the wagering despite his recent good form, Go Go. Go paid a tidy 3.20 and was timed in 1:11% over the fast racing strip, not yet hampered by the rain.
