FUTURESQUE, under constant urging to stay close to the pace, moved outside leaving the backstretch, responded to stout urging, gained command inside the final furlong and drew clear. SINN FEIN worked his way up between horses, saved ground into the stretch and finished with good energy to outfinish VILLAGER. The latter set the pace under steadying restraint, withstood challenges to the final sixteenth before weakening. GUMPTIOUS had no mishap. THE MINOR moved closer after six furlongs but failed to make up ground in the stretch. IMPERIALIST was unable to threaten. REGAL weakened after forcing the pace. MY DREAM MARIE assumed command at once, established the pace mder a snug hold, gave way momentarily after a mile, regained command before entering the stretch and withstood the bid of FESTIVAL II. The latter, reserved within striking distance of the leaders, rallied in the late stages and was catching the winner. FRIENDLY SANDS forced the pace, gained the lead when set down and faltered. QUATREFOIL had no mishap. VIVIANS BEST, steadied until the final half mile, was unable to threaten. The others were outrun. Overweight— Friendly Sands, 1 pound; Vivians Best, 1; Chagin, 1.
