WELL WELL, unhurried while settling into stride early, moved between horses leaving the backstretch, came outside for the drive and rallied under stout urging. UNCLES GIFT moved to engage the leader in the stretch, but was unable to stave off the winners bid. BRAVE LASS opened a commanding lead soon after the start, held sway until the late stretch and weakened. PROFESSOR JOE finished stoutly from off the pace. BENJOMIKE was going strongly at the end. NIGHT MAN, well placed under steadying restraint, failed to rally when set down. GLOSSETTE went evenly. BLUE W. saved ground to no avail. B0L0 LASS tired. The others were outrun. FINAL DRIVE improved position gradually, moved to the extreme outside in the stretch, responded willingly to a steady drive and was along to gain command inside the final sixteenth. GUNNING ISLAND raced with the pace from the start, gaining a slight advantage rounding the turns and held on tenaciously under late pressure. THENDARA raced along the inside while forcing the pace, gained command after being straightened for the drive, then faltered. SIR WALTER R., fractious at the barrier, broke alertly, was rushed to engage for the lead, lost ground on the turns and flattened out in the drive. H0BCAW BARONY unleashed a belated rush through the stretch. WAR T0R0 lacked a rally. SIR STEPHEN showed nothing. SIGH QUEEN faltered. RIP SNORT loomed as a threat entering the stretch along the rail and faltered. BIG BLUE retired steadily after brief speed. FLYING HOOP had no mishap. DAUNTEDID assumed command at once, was undar light restraint while turning back DANDY FOOT, drew out entering the stretch and prevailed over the late challenge of HONEY JAR. The latter moved within striking distance of the pace after a quarter mile, saved all ground possible, rallied under late pressure and just missed. SIRENS RING rushed boldly on the outside and appeared to hang in the late stages. FLOOR BOSS was shuffled back early. SUN RUSHER dropped off the pace soon after the start, rallied mildly, but was unable to threaten. DANDY FOOT flattened out after failing to stay with the leader. ALPHARA closed from a slow start. DOUBLE HEADER II. charged stoutly entering the stretch, lugged in badly bothering horses, was straightened and continued on, but failed to menace. M0NA LOU outrun the field to take a clear lead, held sway to the final furlong and weakened. IM PRECIOUS was taken up leaving the barrier, trailed early, slipped through along the inside entering the stretch and finished stoutly. IM FRED moved to engage the leaders when hit and was forced over sharply. COUNT PUR was forced to take up sharply in the stretch. SIGNARGIRL weakened. THE BEAGLER had no mishap. ANAMIA, in hand while settling into best stride, moved readily when roused, came between horses and was challenging through the stretch when hit and knocked off stride, recovered and closed fastest of all. CHINA COLLEEN, a forward factor, had no mishap. ANNAR showed good speed in forcing the pace, weakening in the late stages. MEG moved up on the outside, ducked in and hit ANAMIA, then dropped back. MIDNIGHT QUEEN caught tiring horses. GAME DAME went evenly. SCOUR saved ground and was under pressure on the turns but failed to threaten. STARK TWINS was through early. The others were outrun. The latter was sent up fast into command, drew clear early, saved ground and was under steady pressure through the stretch. MR. COWBOY, a forward factor, failed to threaten in the late stages. KIAMI closed willingly in the final quarter mile. BANSHEE JET was through after a half mile. VENTURER showed nothing. TACTFUL PILOT was outrun. Overweight— Nancy Clare, 3 pounds; Tactful Pilot, 1. NUTMEG LAD had to be taken up soon after the start to prevent running up on horses heels, rushed boldly on the outside leaving the backstretch, responded through the stretch but kept bearing in and hampering the rider. MY PREFERENCE was hustled to stay within striking distance of leader, rallied mildly entering lane but was not good enough. STAFF CAR showed good speed from the barrier, dropped back on the far turn, responded when urged in the stretch, but was unable to menace. MONTENEGRIN failed to make up ground in the late stages.
