■ Beulah Feature Draws 16 Non-Winners in 1953 Sprinters, Routers to Contest Mile-and-Seventy-Yard Event By R. E. HURLEY Staff Correspondent BEULAH PARK, Grove City, Ohio, May 26. — The final mid-week program for the 19-day spring meeting here has been drawn with a limit field of sixteen horses named for the featured eighth race on the nine-race program. Ten of these probably will meet at the mile and seventy yards as not more than this number is permitted to face starter Tom J. Brown, because of the short run to the first turn. The conditions of the Modern Finance Purse are for non-winners in the 1953 season and sprinters will be trying to carry their speed and routers trying to get up in time. Most prominent of the speedsters is Mrs. F. Morgans Our Doctor, who has been setting all the pace in late races, but has been stopping in the final portions of the routes. The six-year-old Challedon — Torantal gelding will have W. D. Lucas to keep him going in the Modern Finance and may last for the money. Oder and Greens Montcalm is a tried router from France, who should be closing ground at the close of the middle distance test. The French-bred has been closing strongly in recent races and may fool the experts, who think that a mile and seventy yards may not be enough. Thunder, Boss Foot, Audley Square, My Future, Dainty One, Air Poise, Pure Chance, Emory A., Dream Gal, Mr. Bull, Presk Tulip, Terry Mine, War Spy and Little Joe, Jr., complete the field and will be trying for that first 1953 victory.
