EspedecoBIacktypeMeetj In Monrchanin Route Test Third in Series of Handicaps at Delaware Draws Eleven Entrants DELAWARE PARK, Stanton, Del., June 16.— The Montchanin Handicap, a series of five races offered to encourage the devel- j opment of route runners, has the third of.! its weekly runnings tomorrow afternoon. ! The purse and distance increases each j 1 week and tomorrows race t is over the j mile and one-quarter distance for a pot of ■ ,000. A notable absentee from the over- j 1 night line-up is Paul Kelleys Stop and Look, who amassed 48 points through vie-! tories in the first two runnings. | I Highweight of tomorrows field is H. T. Larkins Espedeco, under 122 pounds. I Others in the field, with their weights, are: Lily-Ann Stables Blacktype and Mrs. I Alfred Roberts Little Greg, 118 each; J. B. I Friedlands Ginger Boots, 117; J. V. Thomp- j sons Monte, 116; Harry Husmans Tape Reader, who races coupled with Espedeco, I I 115; Mrs. Esther duPont Weirs Star of: : Persia, 114; G. T. Weymouths Zeeland, I ! 112; R. E. Cudahys Brian Boru and Paulj j Kelleys High Descent, 110 and 106, re- , ■ spectively, and Rarco Stables Gay Count, j 101 pounds. I ! While kelley passed up the race with . Stop and Look, he seems to have strong | I Tepresentation with Brian Boru rated well . above High Descent. Brian Boru last competed at six furlongs for a claiming price j I I I ! j , ■ I ! . | I . of ,500 and was beaten about two and a half lengths in the slop, which he is supposed to dislike. The fast track should prove helpful and only his ability to get 10 furlongs remains in doubt. High Descent has been freshened since being claimed on May 19 by his present owner. Blacktype will be making his Delaware debut and shapes up as a formidable competitor. He was a winner for ,500 in New York, then came back to score by nine lengths over allowance company. In his only race since that time, he was second to Spy Ring at two miles in the Ascot Gold Cup. The only starter in No. 3 who is inent in the present standings is Zeeland, who has finished fourth and second in the first two runnings. He was in the place spot last week behind Stop and Look and with that one passing up tomorrows race, the Weymouth colorbearer has a good op-I portunity to increase his total in the point standings. Espedeco and Tape Reader rate consid-| eration tomorrow, but the former must be considered a doubtful starter, in that he is scheduled to compete this afternoon at Monmouth Park. Tape Reader is capable of "running all day," but has accomplished little at the meeting. Little Greg will be making his initial appearance in the series and rates well. |He was second behind Marked Game last week in a mile and a sixteenth test which was timed in 1:45, flat. Star of Persia- is another who .rates well, but apparently must have everything his own way, for he sulked badly when bumped in his last and finished a trailer.
