Myers Golden Grip, ridden by Edward Ballenger, came through with a decisive four-length victory in the featured Pierre Langlois Purse here this afternoon. Pat Brooks was up to gain the place award and was another four lengths clear of Major Bob who was third another nose in front of Infern. The winner paid .80 and was timed in 1:15 for the six furlongs. Pierre Langlois was in the winners enclosure following the race to present a silver plate to trainer Bobby Myers who represented his brother. Langlois, the fifth ranking middleweight in the country, fights Rocky Castellani at the Cleveland Arena tomorrow night in a nationally televised bout. Golden Grip broke third, with Infern showing in front and Major Bob right alongside in second position. As the horses streaked into the clubhouse turn the Myers colorbearer forged to the front and after the "first quarter led by two and one-half lengths while near the inner rail. Infern was second and Major Bob was in the third spot. Racing into the far turn, Golden Grip still led by a like margin and the only change in the others was that Major Bob had dropped into fourth position with Pat Brooks coming on between horses now third. At the furlong marker with jockey Ballenger looking around, the colt increased his advantage to three lengths and in the remaining eighth of a mile drew out by still another length while being ridden out. Pat Brooks, meanwhile, was coming on between horses and was up to gain the place award and Major Bob and Infern battled it out for show with the former getting the nod. Infern was in close quarters in the final furlong and it may have cost her third position. J. K. Wynkoops Bir Ackeim, ably ridden by Willie Downs, just toyed with five rivals in the Lorain Purse here this afternoon. The winner, a nine-year-old son of Le Chatelet — Cabanella ran the mile and furlong in 1:55% to set a new track record and paid a very generous .00. Freddie Baum was second, five lengths off the leader and three lengths before Dr. Wright. Dr. Wright was first to break in the Lorain, but soon Bir Ackeim moved through while saving ground to gain command. In the final six furlongs it was no contest with Bir Ackeim going along easily and increasing his margin at will. It was the third straight victory for Bir Ackeim and his fourth of the season in 11 starts.
