— ♦ Queens Plate Big Event at Woodbine Canadiarias Thrilling Win Highlight of 14-Day Meet; Taylor Top Money Winner Canadianas brilliant triumph, with Eddie Arcaro in the irons, in the historic Queens Plate, provided the coup de resistance during "Woodbine Parks 14-day spring meeting which concluded last Saturday. This 14-day session was held under the auspices of the Ontario Jockey Club, Ltd. The victory of Canadiana gave E. P. Taylors fleet three-year-old filly money-winning honors for the meeting, capital award in the Queens Plate being worth 0,717. Taylor wound up atop the money-winning owners, too, but the Canadian sportsman would have landed there without Canadianas assistance. Taylors horses accounted for eleven firsts, three seconds and four thirds, earning 0,772. This total far out-stripped the sum collected by the Montana Stable, ,765, for runner-up laurels. G. McCann took the training title at the one-mile Toronto course by throwing the girth around eleven winners, four more than F. H. Merrill, Jr., amassed. Vina Rides 14 Winners J. Vina won out in a spirited battle with E. Roy for the jockey championship. Vina booted home 14 victors in 62 mounts, while Roy rode an even dozen winners in 47 attempts. However, Roys percentage of .26 bested Vina, who had a .23 mark. Horsemen received a net distribution of 22,200 from a gross of 30,830. allotted during the 14 days. This sum represents a daily average net distribution of 5,871.43. Thirty-one per cent of the favorites in the 112 races .contested were successful, which is below normal for Woodbine, and which also means that 35 first choices won. Winning second choices numbered 23 while 54 outsiders got home in front. There were six winners at oods-on against four that failed to win at less than even money.
