LORENA H. moved well to the furlong pole but lacked further response. DIRECT TINT closed well to finish in a dead heat with BIG FLOWER. The latter had a rough trip. ATALANTA, away alertly and un-mrried when outsprinted by JUBLING, disposed of that one on the turn and, after shaking off the challenge of KAY GRECQUE, drew clear under pressure. The latter was formidable from the start, raced wide while challenging turning into the stretch and was unable to stay with the winner thereafter. WINNING STRIDE raced for-Hsardly placed throughout and continued on willingly. SICKLES IMAGE lacked a rally after being within striking istance. MY CELESTE turned on her usual late rally, but failed to reach the first flight. QUIZ SONG moved Hito close quarters behind SICKLES IMAGE in the vicinity of the three-eighths pole.
