Inaugurate Annual Meet of 19 Days at Hamilton, Ohio Course DAN E. CRONIN President of Ohio Sports Enterprises which inaugurates its meeting at Hamilton, Ohio, today. Soundings, Crazette Renew Rivalry in Sprint Feature; Twilight Racing Week Days ByR. E. HURLEY Staff Correspondent HAMILTON, Ohio, Aug. 15. The Ohio Sports Enterprises opens the doors of racing in Butler County for the fourteenth annual season at Hamilton with everything in readiness at the picturesque "little Saratoga of Ohio." The quaint half-mile track with tree-shaded centerfield and elm-shrouded paddocks has a touch of the old Spa about it and president Dan Cronin has tried to keep the likeness to the upstate New York citadel of thoroughbred sport. Racing fans from nearby Cincinnati, Middletown and Dayton will notice many changes in the operation at Hamilton with the Tel Autograph pay-off machines added to the Midwest tote facilities, the Cook Photo Finish Camera and mutuel facilities in the centerfield to accommodate the overflow crowds of Saturdays and the Labor Day holiday. Eight races will be conducted daily except Saturdays during the 19-day meeting which closes Labor Day with the renewal of the Hamilton Endurance at two miles and a sixteenth. Nine races will be presented on Saturdays and the holiday and racing will be conducted under twilight conditions on week days, with first post scheduled at 4:00 p. m. daily for the first two weeks. Post time for Saturdays and the holiday will be 2:30. Limit Fields Named Limit fields were the order of the day on the first program arranged by racing secretary Eugene W. Bury with eight sprinters named in the seven-furlong Inaugural Purse that tops the festivities. Only eight horses are permitted to start in races up to a mile and a quarter and the horsemen filled each race for Monday to the brim. L. D. Moores speedy King Ranch cast-off, Soundings, heads the eight in the Inaugural with Mrs. Frances Flowers hard hitting mare, Crazette, a stout opponent. These two locked horns many times during the recent River Downs meeting with Crazette having the edge in victories but Soundings has the speed to get in front at Hamilton and this may be the deciding factor. Apprentice Leo Adkins has been named on Soundings while Crazette will be handled by J. L. Doyle. E. Daniels Ironclad, Mr. and Mrs. Pete Maxwells Respectable, Mona Prewitts Shes Gone; F. N. Berrys Little Father and Mrs. J. R. Carlocks Blackburn complete the field in the Inaugural and all have enough form to make them a threat in the race. The last two named are strangers from northern Ohio racing who will be making their debut before Hamilton fans. Interest in the meeting is running high in the surrounding area and Ray Motley of station WMOH, Hamilton, will broadcast the running description of the first four races daily for thoroughbred enthusiasts. Daily double wagering will be conducted on the first two races as usual and a banner crowd is expected to be on hand as the starters parade postward at approximately 4:00 p. m. on Monday.
