Cassidy Declines Comment On Reported Resignation DEL MAR, Calif., Aug. 15. Wendell P. Cassidy, previously announced as having been appointed a steward for the Las Vegas meeting, scheduled to open on September 4, today declined to either admit or deny a rumor that he has resigned that position. Cassidy stated that he would prefer that any statement on the matter come from the Las Vegas officials. Currently serving as presiding steward here at Del Mar, Cassidy is also director of racing at Hollywood Park and is one of the best known racing officials in the nation.
