Hammond and Athey Injured In Races at Lincoln Track LINCOLN, Nebr., Aug. 15. Apprentice Everett Hammond was hurt in the gate in the first race while aboard Snow Cloud. Snow Cloud was very fractious in the gate, throwing her head into the face of Hammond. He was not thought to be hurt on first observation, but a swelling developed in his jaw. He was taken to the hospital for an X-ray and the exact extent of his injury is not known. Carl Athey was also hurt in the second race while riding Gold Gal. He was taken off the rest of his mounts and was taken to the hospital for an X-ray of his injured foot.
