KAYES GOODS, outrun to the last three-eighths mile, responded to strong handling during the stretch run and wore down CHIPAWOOD in the last strides. CHIPAWOOD broke to the inside at the start and bumped JEANNA WAR, took command earjy and set the pace to the stretch, and continued gamely under punishment, but could not withstand the winner, just missing. WAR BREEZE, on the outside to the upper turn, made a good bid in the early stretch, then faltered. GOLD FLASH was unable to better his position when set down in the drive. SPEEDY GOLD, roughed when JEANNA WAR was forced into him by CHIPAWOOD, failed to recover. GWEN FACSIMILE raced wide. COMENOT was outrun. INSTYLE failed to stay after showing early speed. GOLD LOCKET was through early. JEANNA WAR, bumped at the break, could not reach serious contention. Scratched 96822 Manipulator, 114; 93240 Time Moon, 117. AMERICAN GLORY engaged PAPA BEAR until inside the stretch, then gave way. LOTOFTOWN, forced wide at the first turn by STAG, raced well when clear. LITTLE XS was through early. PETITE LASSIE, alertly handled, look command at once, entered the stretch with a clear lead but was hard ridden thereafter to withstand NOSE DIVE. The" latter, outrun to the stretch, closed fast in the middle of the track but could mot overtake the top one. WINNING began sluggishly, responded to good handling and finished strongly in the middle of the track. ABSOLUTE saved ground from the outset, made a good bid in the early stretch but faltered when near the finish. CELERITER lacked early foot FLINT NIGHT was never dangerous. The latter went to the front early, set the pace to the final furlong, then was unable to stay with SUB FACTOR, although much the best of the ethers. GREAT NIGHT lacked early speed, but finished gamely under urging. MALLEABLE raced evenly and had no mishap. FAUCHELEVENT raced within striking distance of the leaders for a half mile, then weakened. GULF STREAM, steadied while racing between horses to the stretch, responded to strong handling during the drive and, disposing of DRY RUN, held WHIFFENPOOF safe. The latter began fast, raced nearest BY JUPITER for three-quarters mile, closed fast when hard urged through the stretch, but could not reach the winner. DRY RUN, well ridden, moved up boldly on the outside approaching the stretch, reached the lead during the drive, but faltered when near the finish. GOLDEN TREND lacked early speed, was sent up on the outside when near the stretch, but could not better his position when set down in the drive.. BLACK BANTAM was outrun. ORCO could not keep up after showing early speed. BY JUPITER set the pace for three-quarters mile, then gave way. MY NELL was never prominent and had no mishap. EIGHTH RACE 1 3-8 MILES.
