Anniversary Purse Brings Out Eight Hangover Early Choice in Hazel Park Juvenile Dash; Printers Purse Attracts 1 3 HAZEL PARK, Mich., Aug. 15. The Anniversary Purse, a six furlongs condition race for two-year-olds, and the International Printers Purse at a similar distance for three-year-olds are the top attractions on the good card scheduled for Monday at this popular east side Detroit course. The Anniversary drew an overnight field of eight quick youngsters and 13 second-year performers are entered in the International Printers. Hangover, a well-conformed colt, the get of Apache and Corn Likker, from the David Singer Stable, is the early choice for the Anniversary, sixth event on the Monday program. Hangover gets in the sprint with 115 pounds and he will be ridden by Mike Basile, who successfully handled the Singer youngster in the Dearborn Purse last week. Grand Hotel Stables Sorb and the D. and H. Stables Laurel Springs, each pegged at 115 pounds, are to make their Motor City debuts in the Anniversary. Laurel Springs, a Best Seller-sired filly, won a five furlongs dash at Monmouth Park before her transfer to Hazel Park and Sorb, a bay son of Bull Weed, looked good in several River Downs engagements. Tommy Barrow will be astride Laurel Springs in the Monday twin-feature and Hiram Tackett is engaged for Sorb. Fighting Moore Favorably Weighted R. and R. H. Moores Fighting Moore, a daughter of Fighting Frank and Housewife, won her last start at the Detroit Race Course and she is favorably-weighted at 104 pounds for the Anniversary. The apprentice allowance was claimed for the Moore miss and she will be handled by the young but capable young reinsman, Don Holmes. Others named for the dash are Mrs. George C. Whites Cols Daughter 112; Mrs. William Zakoors Sky Jeep, 112; Mrs. V. E. Smiths Lori-Jane, 112, and Willis and Harris Uncle Bernie, 115 pounds. Howard Craig is to be at the reins on Cols Daughter, Jerry West will be up on Uncle. Bernie, and Robert Lee Baird, who is riding in top form this season, is to guide Lori-Jane. The International Printers Purse probably will develop into a most interesting sprint for the members of the bulky overnight field appear rather evenly matched. Clarence Hartwicks Early Bull, with apprentice Owen Headley slated to handle the riding chore, may go to the post choice on the strength of his gamely-achieved accounting in the six furlongs Sherwood "Purse at the Detroit Race Course last July 11. Mrs. L. C. Molays Crossbow Girl, Theodore D. Buhls Hera Lot, Zakoor Stables King Care, Marion H. VanBergs Patio Patter, and J. D. Dyers Jay Cee are others in the International Printers expected to go well. The Long Way Home Purse, one mile and three furlongs for four-year-olds and upward, matches nine seasoned marathon performers in the "nightcap" eighth race. Leestown, Cardinal Lady and Strike probably will draw the major share of totalisa-tor support over such rivals as Treada Boy, Gypsy Glow, Wait Up, Storm Bird, New Light and Omaberry. Post time for the initial offering on the Monday bill will be at the regular week day hour, 3:30 p.m.
