Nine Race Ten Furlongs In Ohio Distance Series Bookworm Topweight Under 122 And Likely ThistleDown Choice By J. R. BATTY Staff Correspondent THISTLEDOWN, North Randall, Ohio, June 7. — The mile and a quarter version of the Ohio Presidents series of endurance races posted by the local management heads the program here Wednesday. This route series becomes more exacting as it progresses and the final of the five contests which comprise the schedule is a run of two and one-sixteenth miles. Entered to decide the issue in tomorrows distance test are nine seasoned campaigners. Topweighted and probable choice in the wagering is Bookworm, who was assigned 122 pounds.. Others who will go postward in quest of a portion of the ,200 prize offered are Echo Rock, 116; Blue Square, 120; Dilly Willy, 105; Suits n Pants, 102; Cortina, 110; Mektoub, 106; Excel, 111, and Legal Time, 109. Comprising the field are Living Doll, Midland Trail, Novel Request, Short Hand, Timely Reward, Patois, Kouli Khan and Blenment. Bookworm is making his first start locally this season. He was recently shipped here from Chicago where he performed creditably against sterner company than he faces in tomorrows outing. Owned by Anthony Graffagnini, Bookworm finished third to Streaking and Timely Tip in an overnight handicap at Sportsmans Park on May 14. Timely Tip was only a head before him and on Saturday here Timely Tip easily asserted his superiority over Harold L., Mr. Dink and others. Excel won the Ascot Gold Cup a couple of weeks ago but in his lone outing here finished a distant seventh to Echo Rock. The latter turned in a good effort when scoring here last Friday at one mile and figures to be a stout contender for top laurels in this outing. Blue Square finished third to Speak Free and Beau Black latest time out but registered a driving tally over Cotina in his previous appearance locally. Legal Time could prove dangerous if he races true. In his only attempt here, Legal Time finished fourth after lugging in badly most of the way. He won two straight at
