Lewis First Lap, Hasty House Farms Roman Boss, Axton and Burgers Doc Eg-gers, William Hal Bishops Skeptical Kid, and Clifford Mooers Cherry. Others are Birch, a stablemate of Cherry; Colonel Wilson, Mr. Jay Gee, King o Swords, Night Intruder and Marks Rickey. The dash is for two-year-olds exclusively, and three of the juveniles will be required to carry 124 pounds each, which is the highweight. That trio are Tiger Wander, Skeptical Kid, and First Lap, all stakes winners. Cherry, a filly, will have 119; Colonel Wilson, Doc Eggers, and Mr. Jay Gee, 118 each, and all the rest, with the exception of Birch, 114. Birch, a filly, will have 111. Tiger Wander, a ,700 purchase at the Keeheland sales last season, was victorious in a division of the Bashford Manor stakes at Churchill Downs, and his most recent Continued on Page Forty-Three Tiger Wander Tops Field Of 13 for Joliet Stakes Homeplace, First Lap, Cherry And Roman Boss Also Entered Continued from Page One triumph was in the Apprentice Stakes at this meeting. His race that day on a heavy track was a fine one. As an even money favorite he scored by ten lengths from Colonel Wilson, while Skeptical Kid was third r First Lap, fourth; Roman Boss, sixth; and Mr. Jay Gee, seventh. Al Popara will ride Tiger Wander. First Lap beat Tiger Wander in the Lafayette Stakes at Keeneland. He was a ,200 buy as a yearling and he "finished second to Tiger Wander in the Bashford Manor. Job Dean Jessop, his regular rider, will again be in the irons. "-Homeplace, regarded as the most valuable colt in the field, was purchased at private sale and cost his owner a "pretty penny." He turned in a smashing effort at this track recently when he charged through the stretch to -cut down a long lead that had been obtained by Marks Rickey and to win going away. That was his second start, he having finished fifth in his debut. Chris Rogers will be up.- Skeptical Kid" has been in the money in each of his eight starts. He won the Dun- Kenner Stakes, at New Orleans Fair Grounds, was third in the Lafayette, and ican third in the Apprentice. His rider will be Steve Brooks, who is currently heading the | jockey list here. ! Cherry has not been in action since fin-i ishing third back of Waikiki in the Miss 1 Chicago Stakes early in the session. She has three scores in five outings, her most important being in the Debutante at Churchill Downs. John Heckmann will be her rider and she will be coupled with Birch. Doc Eggers is the only unbeaten youngster in the field, having been successful in his only two starts. Colonel Wilson has one victory in nine starts, and his second back of Tiger Wander in the Apprentice was just about his best, although he was beaten many lengths. Mr. Jay Gee was unplaced in the Apprentice, but won two races early in the year. He is a ,100 yearling buy. Roman Boss, who cost his owners 3,800 as a yearling, finished fairly well in his last race after having been unplaced in the Apprentice. He will have Johnny Adams up. Night Intruder graduated from the maiden ranks last time out. Marks Rickey, a ,100 yearling purchase and King o Swords are both maidens. The latter started for the first time last week, while Marks Rickey showed fine early speed in his most recent essay.
