Fairmonut Park Returning To Five-Night Week Racing FAIRMOUNT PARK, Collinsville, 111., June 7. — The Fairmount Park track will be dark the remaining Mondays of the meeting:, except July the Fourth, according to an announcement made by Ray C. Bennigrsen, general manager of the track. Rather than run on the four Monday nights, the track has received approval for a four-night extension of its meeting, so that instead of closing on Saturday, July 16, the session will extend through July 22, the four nights from July 19 through July 22 making up for the Monday night cancellations. According to the original schedule, there was to have been no racing in. this area following the close here on July 16 until the opening of nearby Cahokia Downs on Saturday, July 23. But with the change, Fairmount will close on Friday, July 22 and Cahokia will hold its inaugural the following j evening. - Bennigsen emphasized that with the track running on July 4, it would be dark on Tuesday, July 5, thereby keeping the five-night; week policy intact.
