I., June 7. — Thirty-five of the nations better three-year-olds have been nominated for the tenth running of the 5,000 added Providence Stakes, slated for decision Wednesday, June 22, and richest attraction of the current meeting. The names of the 35 sophomores, highlighted by Montpeliers Saratoga, Hilton Dabsdns Nances Lad, Breckinridge Longs Westward Ho, Cain Hoy Stables Racing Fool, Mrs. Jan Burkes Dedicate, Mrs. E. H. Augustus Informant and Clifford Mooers Traffic Judge, were part of a grand total of 145 leading eligibles named for the meetings four stakes, which carry increased values this season. A big share of the horses named have been in the racing spotlight. Saratoga, second by a neck to Dedicate in the Jersey Stakes, gave the highly-regarded Nashua a real scare before losing out by a length in the seventy-ninth running of the Preak"-ness. Nances Lad and Informant are the only two horses ever to finish in front of Boston Doge, accomplishing this feat in the Swift Stakes. Nances Lad added to his fame with an easy score in the Peter Pan Handicap at Belmont Park last Saturday. Driving Winner of Kent Stakes Westward Ho likewise injected himself in the thick of the three-year-old picture when he charged from seventh place in a field of eight to take the eighteenth Kent Stakes by a nose last Saturday at Delaware Park. The Kent was the first attempt by Westward Ho to travel more than six furlongs and the mile and a furlong distance of the Providence makes this Lochinvar colt a dangerous contender. Dedicate, Racing Fool and Traffic Judge have also established themselves as among the leaders of the sophomore division. Dedicate, besides his clever triumph in the Jersey Stakes, has chalked up five straight wins including the Delaware Valley Handicap at Garden State last month. Racing Fool was fourth in the Kentucky Derby, i while Traffic Judge finished third behind ■ Nashua and Saratoga in the record-break- ing Preakness.
