Tiganna Finds Fairmount Going Much to Her Liking Gets Nod Oyer Aunt Tilly in Five and a Half Furlongs Dash By J. J. HAHN Staff Correspondent FAIRMOUNT PARK, Collinsville, 111., June 7. — Revelling over a muddy course and favored by luck, Tiganna, a three-year-old daughter of Tiger-Man, racing in the silks of James Pickrell and handled by jockey Joe Rector; won the featured five and one-half furlongs Jennings Purse here Monday night. She scored in a driving finish to outnod Aunt Tilly, who races in the partnership of Mr. and Mrs. G. B. Holman. Mrs. Edgar Wallaces Rite-One nosed out Earl Burwells Spring Water for the minor award. Tiganna began sluggishly and trailed the field during the early running while Poky John, Rite-One and Aunt Tilly battled it out over the "gooey" course. It was not until they hit the head of the stretch that the Pickrell colorbearer caught the fancy of the racing strip, coming through on the inside as the leaders swung wide for -the drive. An eighth from the finish Poky John, the early leader was in front of Tiganna by ahead, with Aunt Tilly and Rite-One lapped on them. In the run through the final furlong, Poky John and Rite-One faltered, but Aunt Tilly matched stride for stride with the ultimate winner and it was not until the last jump that Tiganna, though stumbling the last stride, got the nod. At the end the leaders were two lengths in advance of Rite-One and the latter a nose before Spring Water who hung the final eighth after moving up with a threat three-sixteenths from the finish. Wednesday nights main event is named the Maplewood. It is a six furlongs dash under allowance conditions and attracted the entries of eight probable starters, including the Collinsyille-owned Deville. The six-year-old daughter of Hash, a three-time winner at the meeting, is matched a little "high," but the J. W. Norwine representative is at the peak of her form just now and is expected to come in for much support. Entered against the Norwine colorbearer are Sky Ranch, Joeys Dream, Hope Hull, Judge Mac, San Andres, a first-time starter here and Comet Meadow. With no further rain the course is expected to be fast for the mid-week racing menu which gets under way at the usual 8:30 p. m.
