1 1 I I I Five Horses Die When Navy Plane Crashes Into Barn SAN DIEGO, Calif., May 14— Five race horses, valued by their owner at 2,500, perished yesterday when a U. S. Navy drone plane crashed into a barn on the Arthur Shoemaker breeding farm near the Mexican border. Two of the thoroughbreds were killed outright and three were destroyed later as the result of injuries. The horses destroyed were the four -year -j old mare Asiatic and the five-year-old mare Miss New Year; Tonys Socks, a I three-year-old gelding: Tonys star, a three-year-old filly, and Tonys Bee. a two-i year-old filly. The radio-controlled pilotless plane destroyed the barn, chicken house and garage before coming to a stop within 50 yards of the Shoemaker residence. The de-j stroyed horses had been racing at Tan- foran and Agua Caliente and were at the ! farm awaiting the Hollywood Park season.
