1 ARLINGTON DOWNS NOTES tj : and Jockey club officials are completing plans to welcome the large delegation of electrat patrons who will come down in a special train Wednesday for the celebration of Elec-tra Day. The party will be chaperoned by Dave Gray, manager of the Waggoner interests at Electra, and will include practically all the leading twonsfolk and a big band. Trav Daniel, resident manager of the Downs, plans to have the Texas Christian University band on hand at the Texas Pa-1 cific Station to greet the visitors when they,, arrive in Fort Worth, and to have the North Texas Agricultural College band, from Ar-j lington, to escort the Electra group from J Arlington to the Downs, where a special section in the stand will be set aside.. In addition to Electra Day, Wednesday April 10, will be further distinguished by, the fact that American Legion Day will share the spotlight. Members of the va- rious groups of the United States services,! both past and present, will be on hand, andj each race on the program will be dedicated to them. Floral presentations will be made in each event. Capt. S. H. Bruce, Dallas, is handling the Legions arrangements for a fitting observance of the occasion. i The Baker Hotel will be honored Thursday afternoon at Arlington Downs when a feature race will be dedicated to this Dallas hostelry. Mrs. Fenton Baker will sponsor! the event and will present a floral trophy-to the winning owner. In addition to the older Transpose and Morpep, J. G. Angner has the two-year-olds, Cycar and Perlop, here. Cycar is a black son. of Cyclops and Perfection, and Perlop is a chestnut daughter of Cyclops and Wed-I ding Slipper. j F. Zinn unloaded Grand Title, Miss Title,; Padgett and Miss Rena at Fair Park. B.l Moots also arrived at that track with Doc- tor Happy and Kite. Tom Daly, Fort Worth sportsman, was a, visitor Tuesday. Tom is a former boxer i of national fame. i "Midget" Wolgast, flyweight champion the world, spent Tuesday afternoon at lington Downs. Wolgast, one of the really, great battlers of the present era, is en route to Los Angeles, where he is slated to de- fend his title on three occasions. Dick Griffin, Dallas promoter, is seeking Wolgast for. a bout there late this month. i Bob Lightfoot, Dallas, convoyed a largo group of friends to Arlington Downs Tuesday. Bob, who is a good friend and business associate of Phil Reuter, co-owner with EI-wood Sachsenmaier in the Miami Beach stables, is high on Roman Soldier for the 5,- 000 Texas Derby. l f
