1 BOWIE TURF NOTES Araho Stables New Deal broke away from a lead pony Tuesday morning and ran through the paddock gap, where he was snatched up" by Harry Baker, trainer for E. K. Bryson. The horse was not injured. Frank Stevens, of the famous catering family, was an arrival from New York. He will remain for a few days and return to the big town to get things in readiness for the opening of the metropolitan season at Jamaica; on April 20. Jockey Clarence McCrossen, who was signed up in Florida to ride for the Maemere Farm Stable during the New York season, checked in Tuesday. Apprentice B, Cortel-lety also arrived from Miami. The Rowe Memorial Handicap, for three-year-olds, to which ,500 will be added by the association, will serve as the headliner on Saturday. Nominations close TTr-?owie Wednesday. Mrs. Payne Whitney will donate a trophy to the winner of the fixture, named in honor of the late James Rowe -and his son, James Rowe, Jr., who trained for the Whitney family for years. Nat Ray was among the arrivals seen at the track Tuesday morning. He got in with the horses he is training for Mrs. Ray. His contract rider, L. Dupre, is expected here from Florida Thursday. Louis Francis, track superintendent at Aqueduct, has warned owners and trainers not to ship to the Queens County course unless applications were confirmed.
