MISS MELODY was closest to HOPE LORING in the early running and, taking command after going a quarter, lasted to win narrowly. PRINCE HEATHER moved up strongly in the stretch, met with slight interference when the winner came out slightly, but went gamely to the end and would have been a certain winner in another stride. HOPE LORING displayed good early speed, and held on with more courage than usual. HARDATIT was in close quarters approaching the far turn. The others were outpaced. EIGHTH POLE, outrun early, moved up gamely after goin-half the distance and, finishing with a rush, caught DARRAUGH nearing the end to win going away. DARRAUGH opened up a long lead while setting the- pace, but tired badly in the run home. BLACK SIGNAL was outrun early, but came gamely m the run home. BABEE made up some ground. SURTEES, always within striking distance of the leaders, came fast after leaving the back stretch to easily take command in the run home and won with speed in reserve. ONO came strongly when called upon in the last quarter and was going fast at the finish. AGGIE STAR broke well and was always close up. OLD TUCK tired in the run home. SARILLA was done after going three-quarters. HIGH SUN was used up setting th pace and had little left for the stretch run. SISTER ELECTA pulled up very lame. Overweight Sister Electa, 3 pounds. THOUGHTFUL drew clear of the field after going three-eighths, but tired in the run home. NO EXCUSE closed much ground to finish fast. CHEYENNE BOY had early speed, but tired. LAST FIRE quit badly.
