" Tommy Grimes Billie Bane, stakes winner at Santa Anita which will be making his Texas debut, carries the top impost of 122 pounds. He will concede three pounds to Empty Bottle, leading Texas juvenile; Richstrike, another California performer which finished second to Empty Bottle here last Saturday; C. A. Pecks Kingsbury; the Milky Way Farms Stables Caliban, and C. H. Sniders Master Buck. With the exception of Miss Disturb and Miss Diavolo, which have yet to win a race, the others carry 116 pounds each. Due to his New Orleans success, McCarthy will tote the top burden of 116 pounds, with Bulstrode and Great Haste, the latter a non-eligible, next in line of weights with 111 pounds each. Nine older performers and the Texas Derby eligible Cross Ruff meet at a mile for the El Ranchito Handicap, with Mrs. Raymond Pollards Chance Line and Fan-fern assigned the top imposts of 106 pounds each. Although cloudy skies prevailed this morning and there were several light drizzles, the management holds out hopes for fair weather for Wednesdays offering and, in that event, the largest crowd to visit the palatial course- on a week-day is expected to be present.
