Hawkins and numerous other horsemen were among the visitors Tuesday morning. Hawkins is shipping ten, which he wintered at Latonia, here in a few days. He has been on the sidelines more or less for the past six years, but before ailing health forced him to become inactive, always "raced a large and formidable string. Mose Goldblatt comes from Cincinnati to assume active command of the Whitney horses here. The stables of Jack Howard, H. C. Hatch, Phil T. Chinn, Val Crane, Edward Trotter, and T. C. McCaffrey are among the largest at Douglas Park. Howard has nineteen, with six more coming up from his Rookwood Farm; Hatch, 17; Crane, 20; Crinn, 16; Trotter, 10 and McCaffrey, 10. The division of P. A. and R. J. Nashs Shandon Farm now at Lexington is due in any day. J. J. Greely, Jr., is in charge Lou Unger, Cincinnati turf man, shipped Uptodate and Hermanita to Douglas Park from Miami and is taking up Beau Todd? Gay Joe and Impish, which wintered at E. K. Thomas farm. The first shipment of Dixiana horses is expected Tuesday. Trainer Clyde Van Du-sen has stalls bedded for twenty-four and the entire string now at the farm should be assembled here by Thursday. Mrs. Hollis Ryders Blackbirder, eligible for the Kentucky Derby, will be shipped here from Miami, according to present plans of trainer C. Hainesworth. The training of J. J. Flanigans Chance-view is being directed by Tommy Oliphant. Chanceview is quartered at Douglas Park and is reported well advanced. He is eligible for the Kentucky Derby. Stalls are in readiness for a number of stables coming from Oaklawn Park, among them those of W. E. Coover, A. P. Canale, C. Leroy King, John Zoeller, I. Kort, Long-ridge Stable and Blue Ridge Farm. Kirby Ramsey, Jesse Spencer, Harned Bros, and R. W. Collins are shipping from Miami to Churchill Downs. Bert Michell, who trained Reigh Count for the Kentucky Derby, has the L. E. Komor-ous horses at the Downs. From Charles T. Fishers Dixiana Farm came the word that unless weather conditions are too unfavorable, Clyde Van Dusen will move the more advanced Dixiana horses from the farm to Churchill Downs Wednesday. Dixiana will inaugurate the 1935 campaign with upward of a score of colorbear-ers. Van Dusen has stalls bedded down here for twenty-six. Some few of these found unsuitable for immediate racing, ailing, or in need of more time to mature, will be returned to the farm before the stable leaves here at the close of the Downs meeting for Detroit or Chicago. Jockey Harry Richards is with the William R. Coe stable. He accompanied Clyde Phillips to the West Coast, where he rode with much success. At least six and possibly seven carloads of thoroughbreds are expected Wednesday from Oaklawn Park, Hot Springs. With but few exceptions, the .stables making up the large shipment will unload at Douglas Park. Jack McGinnis, Ruby White and others of starter William Hamiltons associates, arrived Monday from Hot Springs. They expect to lose no time inaugurating the schooling of the many two-year-olds at the two local tracks. Hamilton will arrive in time to direct personally the final and most important part of this work.
