j MARYLAND PREPARED FOR j j ALL EVENTUALITIES 1 BALTIMORE, Md., April 2. The State Racing Commission, anticipating toe signing by Governor Harry Nice of the race track relief bill just passed by the General Assembly today, announced that seven and one-half per cent will be the gross take from the pari-mutuel turnover at the four one mile tracks. That breakage will be to toe nickel and the tracks share under provisions of the new bill will be five per cent and breakage. Also taking care of the possibility that the governor may not sign the bill, secretary Spencer said the tracks will be allowed six and one-half per cent, plus breakage, in event pocket veto is exercised by the governor. Under the new bill passed by the state legislature, the tracks will be relieved of the payment of ,000 of the ,000 a day fee formerly paid to the state by each of the one mile tracks. In obtaining passage of the racing relief bill proponents argued that the depression together with growing keen competition from northern tracks, made it necessary to do something if racing in Maryland was to be saved from disaster.
