1 ARLINGTON DOWNS NOTES f s i Val Sulich, whose work as starter was a feature of the Epsom Downs meeting just closed, came here from Houston and joined starter Roy Dickcrsons ground crew at Arlington Downs. Joe Wolkin, executive of the Turf Catering Company, is expected Wednesday or Thursday from Lexington, where his company operated all concessions at the Keeneland track which closed a successful meeting last Saturday. Jim Bird has been named agent of the stable of Mr. and Mrs. A. A. Baroni and will make jockey Wayne Wrights engagements, along with handling other business details in connection with the stable. Arriving from Lexington, Paul Kelley was in personal charge as the horses in his large stable went through light training paces here Monday morning. He reported the sale of Crazy Jane before leaving the Blue Grass metropolis. Another belated arrival from distant New England was JameS" Vaughn, who came in Sunday with six from Rockingham Park. They are: Ace of Spades, Cold Spill, Toano, Squawker, Come On and Oaspino. The horses Reo Red, Blue Train, Mount Lookout, Flight of Gold, Even Play and Our Bud were transferred here from Epsom Downs, Sunday, by trainer S. N. Holman. Headed by the good juvenile filly, Trina, the stable Sammy Hicks brought here from Epsom Downs Sunday, also includes five others. The W. D. Mikel establishment, trained by W. M. Johnson and unloaded here Sunday, includes John Banc, Chinese Empress, Sad Knight, Flabbergast, Seven Up, Benefit, Scythe, Vanda Cerulea and others. Due to the inadvisability of moving the starting gate into the chute because of track conditions, the distances of the third and fourth races on Mondays program were reduced to six furlongs. J. M. Buckland, another to check in over the week-end, registered Ladino, Renaissance, Volomite, Billy Mole, Old Fondo Sharp Thoughts, Eric T. and Wichita City. James King, former jockey who has been racing a few horses the past several months, will campaign Jessie D. M., High Bottom and Nedvivc here. King brought the trio from Epsom Downs.
