CLAIMING WORLDS HONORS After Wychwoods victory in the Champion Stakes at Newmarket on October 13, Mey-rick Good, writing for the Sporting Life, said: "Those French writers who have been discussing whether Corrida or Mieuxce should be styled the 1936 best horse in the world, had the problem settled for them at Newmarket when Wychwood, at weight-for-sex, fairly and squarely defeated Corrida by six lengths. Assuming that there is little to choose in the relative merits of Corrida and Mieuxce, then it is clear than neither is entitled to the Olympic laurels, which must be awarded to Wychwood." Of course, our English cousins would not consider that America might have a horse eligible tottry for worlds honors. If James Fitzsimmons was correctly quoted, "Granville is a better colt at three than Omaha," the Yankee champion certainly would make it interesting for any mans horse.
