DISCOUNT had speed from the start, followed in close attendance of the speedy EILEEN D. the first three-eighths, moved into command when called on entering the stretch and was not seriously threatened. EASTER HATTER saved ground from the start, made a bold bid to overtake the leader midway of the stretch and continued gamely to the end. ROCK BOUND forced the early pace and, saving ground, outfinished ARBRANCH. The latter, on the outside throughout, was unable to better its position. EILEEN D. quit badly after three eighths. BIG FISH was hustled into the lead at once, drew clear rounding the first turn and was under mild urging to stall off GOSTER. The latter was hustled forward after breaking in last place, lost a bandage rounding the turn, was placed to severe punishment all through the final quarter, but was unable to reach the winner. HORUS closed gamely to outfinish CANDY FEAST. The latter made up ground through the final quarter mile. JEALOUS SWAIN could never threaten. CIRCULET had brief speed. THIRD RACE 2 1-2 MILES. WILFRID G. followed back off the pace the first two turns of the field, took command leaving the fifteenth fen:e and drew away to win with speed in reserve. GREATOREX went into command when DAFFY lost its rider, dropped back leaving the clubhouse bank, came again going to the fifteenth fence, was blocked slightly, then dropped back in the drive. FAIR DIANA trailed far back throughout and was unable to threaten. IRISH ENVOY fell heavik while racing in a contending position at the fifteenth fence. DAFFY drew away into a commanding lead the first turn of the field, stumbled in landing at the ninth fence and unseated its rider, was remounted and finished the course. CABIN GAL had speed from the start, was hustled away into the lead, was steadied along in front under stealing restraint to the final quarter mile and drew out in the final eighth. SWEEPDEN forced the pace from the start, closed gamely thiough the final quarter, but was unable to threaten the winner. CHLCKLER saved ground from the start and. well placed throughout, came gamely in the drive to outfinish DALAMAC. The latter, well placed throughout, had no mishaps. ROYAL VINTAGE, outrun the first half mile, found difficulty in obtaining racing room leaving the back stretch while advancing, then made up ground. EPICURUS tired. OSIRANDO, away well, was hustled forward on the outside to take the lead in the first quarter mile, shook off BLUE WREN and GREEN IRIS leaving the back stretch, drew clear rounding the turn and wai under mild pressure to the end to stall off CUP WINNER. The latter steadily improved its position on the outside, closed with good courage through the final quarter, but was unable to reach the winner. GOANWIN made up ground. BLUE WREN forced the early pace then faltered and outfinished WORTH TRYING. The latter, outrun early, closed with a rush next the inner rail through the final quarter mile. GREEN IRIS quit. WINGED FLIGHT, slow to settle into its best stride, was blocked when moving forward leaving the back stretch, came with a rush between leaders when straightened away in the stretch and was up in the final stride. WINSTON D., slow to settle into its best stride, steadily improved its position on the outside leaving the back stretch, closed with a rush through the final eighth and just failed to get up. FIRE REEL set the early pace, was taken in hand when outrun, then came again in the final quarter mile and was in close quarters at the end. MISS TAD forced the early pace, was hustled into a commanding lead leaving the back stretch, then faltered in the drive. ARMY GAME quit. WOODSIGHT had brief speed. Scratched— 51915 Pestle, 111. BACK FENCE was hustled forward at once, shook off APERITIF through the back stretch and closed willingly, but was no match for the winner in the final drive. APERITIF forced the early pace, then faltered in the drive through the stretch. CRATAEGUS tired badly in the last eighth. FAIR COUNTESS raced evenly. SHICAHRI broke into the air at the start and trailed throughout. Scratched— 57971 Centennial, 128.
