j ; ■ ! ! ALGER MEMORIAL DRAWS NINE Main Man Asked to Concede Much Weight to Rivals in Detroits Holiday Headliner. DETROIT, Mich., May 28.— Topped by the ,000 added Col. Alger Memorial Handicap and ably supported by the Seward Hotel Purse, the Memorial Day program at Detroit is an attractive one. In the Alger Memorial which will be hav- j ing its fifth renewal, J. B. Respess Main Man will make his local seasons debut under the top impost of 126 pounds. Eight others, including the E. W. Duffy entry of Grey Gold and Sir Jim James are pitted against him and the son of Hildur has a hard task before him. Mrs. T. Stevensons Tempestuous and Mrs. E. H. Bartletts Zev-son are next in line of weights under 115 pounds each. Sir Jim James comes next for ths run over one mile and one-sixteenth and Kings Heir is the low weight under 108 pounds. NEW DEALS DEEUT. In the Seward Hotel purse, New Deal will make his local bow under the top weight of 119 pounds. It is the same package assigned Grey Gold, which also is named for the feature. Ho and Little Tramp are the feature weights in the field of eight under 99 pounds each. Although small fields are named for the eight races, the first of which will go post-ward at 2:30 oclock, they are well-balanced. Although drizzling rain fell this morning, the trr.ck continued in its best condition and indications are for clear weather for the holiday. The field for the Col.
