MISS MONK PAYS 9 AKRON, Ohio, May 28.— Form players got away to a good start when Tappanaugh, ridden by jockey Elmer Fator, justified the confidence of the fans to lead home a field of ten in the initial event on the card. Close on the heels of the favorite came Queen Clarice and Pine Away, which finished in the order named. The second event on the card called for three-year-olds and upwards to traverse the five furlongs distance, and the result was somewhat of a surprise to the public when Miss Monk, a five-year-old mare owned by C. A. Werline, dropped down in front to pay the long odds of 9 for the usual investment. Tappanaugh and Miss Monk completed the "Daily Double" combination to return the juicy odds of 26.20.
