1 LINCOLN FIELDS TURF NOTES I 8 J D. A. Headley wired Tom Young to have two stalls bedded at Lincoln Fields. Headley advised that he is sending two horses from New York, presumably candidates for the Crete Handicap. V. E. Berry is on the scene with the horses Bereit, Cold Spill, Dead Ready, Hook It, Mary Vito, Our David and Zoranna. They have been here since the close of the Oak-lawn Park season. W. R. Dahlstrom came in from Columbus and joined the staff of the racing secretary at Lincoln Fields. The horse Quibbet, the property of Mrs. M. E. Sheppard, died here Wednesday, a victim of shipping fever contracted en route from California. The stables of C. C. Van Meter, M. Griner and J. O. Whitlow arrived here Wednesday. They came from Lexington, where they have been since the Keeneland meeting. Trainer W. T. Westrope got in from California Thursday with seven horses, the property of his wife. The string is headed by Cloud DOr. Dissolving a partnership which owned both horses, M. F. Kent took over Well Heeled and E. C. Roth acquired the entire interest in Royal Countess. The latter was turned over to C. E. Dale to train. Having been rested since last fall, the horses Avalier and Hope Revived are here in training under E. G. Hoffman. E. E. Irby, who has been here since the close of the Oaklawn Park meeting, has Wilda and Monon Lad ready for a return to competition. Jockey W. Gonzales is attached to the stable. Mrs. W. S. Billings, who recently entered the thoroughbred sport, will be represented here by Boos Double, Julia Do, Bess Water-flag and Sis Waterflag. Another arrival was Guy Mangin, with Catchem, Chenault and Brentwood, the property of Mrs. R. Wingfield; Mary Stoll, owned by T. J. Collins, and Chinese Indian, which races for B. F. Thomas.
