w 1 THORNCLIFFE PARK NOTES I $ $ H. McDonald, trainer of the G. M. Hendrie string at Woodbine Park, reports that his brother J. S. McDonald, who is confined to the Western hospital, is greatly improved. W. H. Kelly, former mutuel employee on the Ontario tracks and who has been ailing for some time, passed away at the General hospital on Friday night. Eric Smith, trainer of the Mrs. G. Hardy string, transferred the stable to Thorncliffe Park, Saturday morning. He left Epicurus to fulfill his engagement in the William Hendrie Memorial and will rejoin the stable Sunday morning. Frank Gilpin, trainer of the ParkwOod Stable, plans to send six head to Detroit on Tuesday. The shipment will include Scally Gal, Prince Derek, Sturdy Duke, Donna Julia and the juveniles, Peter Hof and Park-wood Chief. The main division of the stable will remain at Woodbine Park and van to Thorncliffe each day. "Lefty" Gwynne, local bantamweight boxer, has joined the stable of Trainer H. Giddings as an exercise boy and will act as agent for the string and assist jockey A. Pascuma in making riding engagements. The following stables were vanned to. Thorncliffe on Saturday morning: Erindale Stable, G. M. Hendrie, Medway Stable and Dr. C. N. Mooney. J. P. Turner arrived from Florida to take up his duties at Thorncliffe Park. Racing secretary R. S. Shelley departed for Winnipeg following the running of the final race lit Woodbine Park. J. Hazza, who was reported shipping to Winnipeg, decided to leave his string at Toronto in charge of Trainer Hurst.
