THANKSGIVING IS VICTORIOUS Corning Colorbearer Scores Triumph in ,500 Added Constitution at Suffolk Downs. BOSTON, Mass., May 28.— A New York Invader carried off honors in the ,500 Constitution Handicap at Suffolk Downs this afternoon as Thanksgiving, carrying the colors of Mrs. Parker Corning, scored a victory in the mile event for three-year-olds which is an important test for the 5,000 Yankee Stakes. The winner got to the front shortly after the field thundered past the three-eights post and won easily under excellent handling from jockey Carroll Bierman. He raced under the wire two and a half lengths in front of Medway Stables Upslala, which ran a remarkably good race in top class company to take second place by two lengths from Mrs. Emil Denemarks Blind Eagle. The latter came from far back to take third place after sulking and trailing his field in the early stages. He was coupled I in the betting with Dorothy Rock. Thanksgiving was a heavily backed favorite in a heavy betting race. The track was heavy for the race, which was run in a downpour of rain which came just about post time for the feature. Thanksgiving went in 1:40%, fair time considering track conditions. There was plenty of early speed in the race and the pace battle was a hot one. Battle Jack assumed command, followed closely by Deep End, Thanksgiving and Stage I Beauty. Stage Beauty, whose best forte is I sprinting, began to drop back soon after the five-eighths post was passed and kept on dropping back until she was last. A split second later, Deep End began to quit, knocking Battle Jack back and eliminating | him from the race. Sea Voyage, coming fast at the time, was taken up by Albrecht to avoid trouble. Deep End quit after hitting Battle Jack, and as they sailed past the three-eighths marker, Thanksgiving went to the lead. He , drew out in the last turn and came on to j the stretch with a safe lead. Upslala entered contention when the early leaders quit on I the far turn. The filly made a game run at the leader but was simply no match or him.
